Our Approach

WTIA is the unifying voice for the technology community in Washington. The organization works to consolidate the power of member companies to solve business problems they can’t solve on their own. WTIA brought Barokas Communications on to help expand awareness of the organization locally and to promote WTIA as the unifying voice for the technology community in Washington state. The team works with WTIA to establish the organization as a thought leader in both the local community and the technology industry in order to support the organization’s mission, including the advocacy work WTIA leads in the region.

Barokas also supports WTIA’s subsidiary organization, Apprenti, an organization whose mission is to address the workforce shortage in the tech industry and identify diverse talent to meet industry needs across the country. 

Newsjacking, or capitalizing on breaking news and current events, plays an integral role in Barokas’ strategy for securing media coverage for WTIA and Apprenti. By keeping a pulse on the news from both a technology and local perspective, and then acting quickly when relevant stories arise, the team has been successful in inserting WTIA and Apprenti’s perspectives into the conversation.

Jennifer Carlson, Apprenti ‘s Executive Director shares that “Barokas has been an integral partner in helping us grow and establish Apprenti as the go-to apprenticeship model in the tech industry. Our coverage and their connections speak for themselves.”

Barokas also played a significant role in launching WTIA’s Cascadia Blockchain Council and continues to drive awareness for the organization as well as establish its chair as a thought leader in the blockchain industry.
