We’ve been busy in our Detroit office…

We’re six months into our Detroit office opening and things are moving quickly out here! Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to:

Welcoming SEEVA and Bloomscape to the Barokas Communications client roster

I’m excited to announce we’ve partnered with SEEVA, a kickass father-daughter duo developing visibility systems for vehicle mobility. We’ll be managing their social media, internal communications, media relations and content development programming as they scale their dually-headquartered team in both Seattle and Detroit. We’ve also partnered with Bloomscape, a Detroit-based startup working to make buying plants simple, by delivering healthy, ready-to-go plants to your door. We’ll be growing their media relations, influencer marketing and PR content programs as the company begins delivering delightful plant babies to your door. Detroit businesses are booming and we’re proud to be able to rep so many fantastic products, people and companies across the city (and state!).

Hosting the PlanetM Awards at AutoMobili-D at the North American International Auto Show

The North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) is a century-old event that brings together thousands of automotive professionals and enthusiasts from across the globe to showcase and celebrate the latest automotive innovations. With the mobility industry playing a large role in Detroit’s resurgence, NAIAS set out to create a show within a show, to keep up with the pace of innovation across the transportation sector. Last year, AutoMobili-D was born. AutoMobili-D is a show floor within NAIAS that highlights the advancements in technologies that help people and goods move more freely.

To build on the success of the mobility expo, PlanetM, the state of Michigan’s mobility initiative, launched the inaugural PlanetM Awards, a platform for honoring enterprises developing innovative mobility-focused platforms and technologies at AutoMobili-D. For the past few months, Barokas Communications had the pleasure of working with serial entrepreneur Jake Sigal, CEO for Tome Software, to spearhead programming for the PlanetM Awards. From developing an authentic awards program to assembling a roster of all-star judges and securing Governor Rick Snyder to hand out the Best in Show award, the PlanetM Awards proved to be one of AutoMobili-D’s most ambitious and successful events yet.

Working with Techstars Mobility to make history at NAIAS

Barokas Communications client Techstars Mobility, an accelerator for mobility startups based in Detroit, curated a list of 57 of the most innovative mobility startups from across the globe to showcase their products at AutoMobili-D. Additionally, Techstars Mobility graduates Spatial, SEEVA and Cargo, made history at NAIAS by announcing technology partnerships, funding and company milestones. Barokas Communications worked with Techstars Mobility to create a newsworthy event that showcased exactly why Detroit is transforming from the Motor City to the Mobility City.

With that, I can’t wait to see where the next six months take us. Detroit was the best location and culture decision we could have made for our third office. I’m excited to share more with you as we continue to grow.
